I have no words to describe how much I love this band.I reall dont. Their music is so diverse,filled with emotion,ewith epic songs,most of them over 10 minutes.Their whole discography is just an epic journey.And every musician stands out in its own way.And they are very dedicated to their fans,I mean they are selling official bootlegs!I havet seen a band before that sells bootlegs!(And I dont mean official DVDs,but bootlegs!).They started off as a prog rock band and nowaydays they do prog metal.And I am quite weird now,as I preffer their old stuff more,but I also love their newer stuff as well .My favorite album is probably 'Images and Words' because it's so emotional and the lyrics describe me a LOT.And James's vocals on that album are so damn high.He is the only tenor I heared that can reach hthat high chest notes,without classical vocal;ls.It is so amazing.Too bad he raptures his vocals in '94 and his voice wasnt the same anymore,but still good.And woah,John Petrucci<3 I have to admit he is my favorite guitarist of all the time.His solos blow me away.And he is also the main composer
And I'm not going to contoiinue now because I might write a book of how much i love DT.But I hope my words are still enough for one post

MIRROR MIRROR'S MY FAVE!!!1

Have you listened to them Fani?Yiipee! TheMirror was the first song by DT I've vee listened to,because I read somewhere that Epica's Semblance of Liberty was a ripp-off DT's 'The Mirror'.And they sound nothing alike But curiosity made me love this band to death<3

I had that album on my iPod last year but I had delete it for other music I didn't really to the whole album though, just that song over and over again I had a mad obssesion with it though.

It's okay .You mean 'Awake',right?It's an epic album,my 2nd favorite

I actually can't remember but the video had live clips and them running around a city and backstage. The singer's voice is like earsilk though <3

Most probably I didn't think I'd like them due to Prog metal not being in my highly rated catergory but Dream Theater are just amazing!

Well it's hard to judge DT just by one song but it's good you like it.If you want I can make a list of the less proggy DT songs if you want to(most of them are ballads,they heavy songs are very progressive )

Now I feel a bit guilty that prog is my fave metal genre .And if Epica didn't existed I could never discover this genre and awesome prog bands like DT

I said a few posts ago about the songs on Scuzz. They had a special last week and I caught 3 or 4 songs I liked but Wither as you said - I think that's the one that captivated me most

But I've come to the conclusion that the DT machine was starting to burn me out...and I really needed a break from the band in order to save my relationship with the other members and keep my DT spirit hungry and inspired.

We have been on an endless write/record/tour cycle for almost 20 years now (of which I have overseen EVERY aspect without a break) and while a few months apart from each other here & there over the years has been much needed and helpful, I honestly hoped the band could simply agree with me to taking a bit of a "hiatus" to recharge our batteries and "save me from ourselves"...

Sadly, in discussing this with the guys, they determined they do not share my feelings and have decided to continue without me rather than take a breather...I even offered to do some occasional work throughout 2011 against my initial wishes, but it was not to be...

While it truly hurts for me to even think of a Dream Theater without Mike Portnoy (hell, my father named the band!!), I do not want to stand in their way...so I have decided to sacrifice myself and simply leave the band so as to not hold them back against their wishes....

Strangely enough, I just read an interview that I recently did that asked me about the future of DT and I talked about "always following your heart and being true to yourself"...sadly I must say that at this particular moment, my heart is not with Dream Theater...and I would simply be "going through the motions", and would honestly NOT be true to myself if I stayed for the sake of obligation without taking the break I felt I needed.

I wish the guys the best and hope the music and legacy we created together is enjoyed by fans for decades to come...I am proud of every album we made, every song we wrote and every show we played....

I'm sorry to all the disappointed DT fans around the world...I really tried to salvage the situation and make it work...I honestly just wanted a break (not a split)...but happiness cannot be forced, it needs to come from within....

You DT fans are the greatest fans in the world and as you all know, I have always busted my ass for you guys and I hope that you will stay with me on my future musical journey, wherever it may lead me....(and as you all know my work ethic, there will surely be no shortage of future MP projects!)

This actually amde me cry so hard I mean Mike was my favorite drummer of all the time and now he leaves DT.This is actually so though for me because I just cannot imagine DT without him I never expected him to leave.I mean heck he was one of the founders of the band and one of the creative forces.WE will miss you,Mike

Now,I'm not sure if DT can hold on without Mike...

I mean he was the leader of the band How could he do that to us?

Man, it sounds and feels like a funeral. but if something like that doesn't happen with Epica I'm happy =]

To be honest now I'm not sad anymore at all.Mike wanted a break the rest of the DT mebers not.It is clever enough this was the only option.Though it will be hard for someone to fill Mike's shoes.Not drumming-wise,but personality wise.

Plus he stated in his most recent interview that he might want to be with DT again after a while.Though I'm not sure if that's going to happen.

PLus the bright side of the story is that DT will get a new,fresh sound.Although Mike decided how the things go in the studio,he wasn't much the great composer of DT.Petrucci and Rudess are by far the most important songwriters in the band.

And Epica had been thorough this,but luckily enough they've got a better drummer,with a better personality

It's really sad to hear that MIke's leaving DT.
I can't believe it... I have to force his name out of the Dream Theater box inside my head and into the "Left this band for something else" box. It's hard. >__>

But who will be their drummer now? When they're recording a new album, and going on a world-wide tour... they can't be without a drummer.

They are going to to auditions for drummers soon,but Jordan stated that online auditions are not allowed.

I'm sure they will get a very talented drummer,but the relationship that Mike had with the fans will not be the same anymore ;( But I hope that the new drummer will be however friewndly and dedicated
