| Delain is a Dutch symphonic metal band. The band was founded by the ex-keyboardist of Within Temptation, Martijn Westerholt.Delain was founded by Martijn Westerholt and Charlotte Wessels. He left Within Temptation in 2001 when he suffered from Pfeiffer's disease (mono). Wessels was, at that time, an unknown singer living near Westerholt. They started Delain, as a project involving many of Westerholt's friends in the Symphonic Metal Community, in 2002, and began recording the debut album in July 2005. For their first album Lucidity they invited several well known musicians: Marco Hietala from Nightwish and Tarot (bass, vocals), Liv Kristine from Leaves' Eyes (vocals), Ariën van Weesenbeek from ex-God Dethroned, Epica (drums), Ad Sluijter from ex-Epica (guitar), George Oosthoek (growling) and Guus Eikens, both former members of Orphanage, Sharon Den Adel from Within Temptation (vocals) and Jan Yrlund from Imperia (guitar). Samples of their music have been released on their website, and full versions of the songs Sleepwalker's Dream and The Gathering, as well as the music video for the song Frozen[1]. From Lucidity they released the singles Frozen, See Me In Shadow and The Gathering, the last one being a download-only single. In November 2008, it was announced on their official website that the new album, April Rain, would be released on 9 February 2009. Also, they played a new song on Dutch television called I'll Reach You. This turned out to be a different version of the song than would appear on the forthcoming album. | |

| I LOVE Delain! I have since I first heard them. I've even seen them twice which was quite awesome, and I must say some of their songs are even better live Silhouette of a Dancer is also one of my fav songs of the moment. | |

| I've seen them 8 times live, but to me their songs from Lucidity are more solid that the April Rain ones. I don't know why but I just get bored of the 2nd album easily. And to be honest, Charlotte should take singing lessons... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewCRtbvEazIThe beginning is horrible | |

| I think that she needs some more practice. There aren't many singers that sound live as goog as on the records..But I like her performance on stage..the headbanging and the other things | |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewCRtbvEazI The beginning is horrible Yo've seen them 8 times?!?! That's so cool!! I do love April Rain like anything but I have to agree, Lucidity is that bit better. As for her singing I agree, she may need more practice but I think she'll get there. Ok now the video has made me want to listen to Pristine lol. | |

| I don't like Delain. I've seen them three times and I just can't remember when Charlotte was singing... right. She sounds horrible live, although she's good on cd's. But that's my opinion, I don't want to harm someone! | |

| I like Delain, not to the extent of Epica or Within Temptation, but they are actually pretty good! I really like the song April Rain especially, she's got a great voice. | |

| I know all of their songs and they are quite nice although tehir compositions form the April Rain are more into something like pop than into rock or metal and I don't like a lot this album. But Lucidity is good, especially A day for a ghost with Liv as a special guest. Thing that disturbs me the most in this band is Charlotte, I don't like her voice too much.
